How to keep up with Bill and Doug
A guide to all the places we'll be with our Ohio State coverage
The response to what we’re doing in the first few weeks of this has been truly awesome. Whether you’re a paid subscriber or someone who was at least willing to sign up and check out if this might be for you, we so greatly appreciate it.
Also, thank you for bearing with us as we got everything set up. We think we more or less have everything where we want it, so we wanted to give you a “how to” of sorts, just so you’re aware of everything we’re doing and where you can find us.
First things first, this Substack page is our primary home. This is where we’ll do all of our writing. This is where we’ll be doing subscriber-only podcasts. This is where we’ll chat with you, take your questions for shows and mailbags, and post things that are on our minds in the notes section. Hopefully, you’ve familiarized yourself with the chat and the notes sections, especially the chat section, as that’s where we’ll be posting our gameday threads and watching along with you.
You can access all of that on your desktop, but we’d also encourage you to download the Substack app if you haven’t already.
Subscriber-only podcasts
When we publish a podcast that’s only for subscribers, the only place to find that video will be here on Substack. You can also access those in audio form on Substack if you don’t feel like looking at our mugs. Click the headphones icon next to the video on your desktop or click the arrow that looks like a chevron on the top left of videos in the app . And if you’re listening on the Substack app, you can do so while browsing other apps or having your phone closed, just as if you were using a traditional podcasting app.
However, you can also get the audio from subscriber shows into your podcast app of choice (Apple, Spotify, etc.) by accessing your private RSS feed. Substack has posted steps to do that here. We’ll also offer a rough guide: Go into your settings > subscriptions > click on “Bill and Doug > scroll down to private podcasts and click “set up.” Click on your podcast app from there, and it should be one or two more clicks to get set up.
As always, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out.
Currently, we can assure you that the subscriber-only shows during the season will be our longer Wednesday shows and our Sunday Soundoff shows, where we use your thoughts and questions about the game to guide the show. There could be some additional subscriber-only shows beyond those two, but you’ll get at least those two during the season, and you’ll get the Wednesday show all year.
Free podcasts
We will produce a mix of subscriber-only podcasts and free podcasts, and this will be our one extra ask of you. The subscriber shows and free shows have to exist in separate feeds. So to access the free shows, we’re going to ask you to follow those feeds on your podcast app of choice.
If you search “The Bill and Doug Show: Ohio State football talk” you should find us. I’ll post the links to the Apple and Spotify feeds below.

REMINDER: Those feeds are for the free shows only. To get the subscriber shows on your apps, you’ll need to follow the steps above under “subscriber-only podcasts”. We know this might be an initial pain, but it should be pretty seamless, and once set up, you’ll have everything we do in your podcast app.
Bill and Doug on YouTube
Our free podcasts will simulcast on our YouTube channel, which you can find through this link. There’s also a link to the YouTube channel at the top of the Substack page.
We’ll post shows on that channel most days, including “Around The Shoe” with some other members of the beat on Monday evenings during the season. That channel is where we’ll also do our live postgame shows on Saturdays. I’ve included the show from after the Texas game so you can get a feel for what those are like.
We will occasionally publish YouTube videos on Substack, but not always. We don’t want to clutter your email inbox every time we publish a new video on YouTube. So if YouTube is something you enjoy, we recommend subscribing to that channel for free so that you don’t miss anything.
That about covers it.
Again, we’re always available if you have any questions. And if we can’t answer it, we can point you in the direction of Substack support.
Thank you again for riding with us and being willing to try something a little different.
-Bill and Doug
Would any future northern football content come through our feeds with a subscription here or would that be separate?
Can you still post all the content on substack? Substack lets you still listen to the videos when you lock your phone & youtube does not
